All of our modern systems use the cellular network to send its signals to the monitoring station. In addition, depending on the system, your internet (hardwired or Wi-Fi) can be used as a backup method to the cellular. The cellular connection does not affect customers’ cell phones or cell phone plans and its cost is covered in American Alarm Co.’s monthly monitoring rate.

You’ll have to check with your insurance company to be sure but most of the major insurers do offer discounts to homeowners that have security systems installed in their homes.

Interior Motion detectors can be pet immune for animals weighing up to 88 lbs. if they don’t jump high or climb up on furniture. We may recommend instead omitting interior motion detectors in rooms where high jumping/climbing pets have access to and focus on perimeter protection such as door/window contact protection along with glass breakage and shock sensors protection.

What happens if I accidentally set off my alarm?

Enter your personal security code into the keypad to silence the siren. Then please call American Alarm’s monitoring station at 845-564-3763 ext. 0 and provide the operator with your name, address and all ok word/phrase.
