Why should I choose IMMS?

Unlike traditional home security companies, IMMS do not tie you into lengthy contracts or equipment hire agreements. The equipment you pay for is yours. We are focused on providing affordable security products backed up with excellent customer service.

Who will install my security system?

We have experienced and professional installation engineers.

Can you help with new plug sockets fitting for my system?

Yes, we can recommend a regulated system installer. Please call us to discuss.

Can I add extra items after my installation?

Yes – all accessories are available to buy after your installation at the listed prices. If you want our engineers to install them, we will levy a charge for the engineer to visit unless the installation coincides with an annual service or maintenance visit.

How long does an installation take?

Dependent on the complexity of the install, alarm and elderly care systems usually take around 2 hours. For CCTV, we allow longer due to the additional work involved.

Who do I contact for technical support?

Us! We operate the support lines here for all of our customers. With every install, you will also receive a self-help manual which answers most support questions.

Does IMMS system offer any insurance?

No. The installation of any security systems into your premises does not constitute the provision of insurance to you.

Do you undertake Commercial / Business work?

Yes, we undertake all commercial and business work.

Is an alarm complicated to use?

No, using an alarm is simple—usually just involves entering a four-digit code to set it.

Can I set the alarm at night?

Yes, it's advised to set the alarm at night. You can program it to protect certain areas while excluding others.

What happens if the alarm goes off?

The alarm will sound for a predetermined length of time before silencing and re-arming itself. You can stop it by entering your code.

Will I know if the alarm has gone off while I was away?

Yes, when you return, a flashing strobe light will indicate that the alarm may have triggered.

I have pets. Can I still have an alarm?

Yes, we can use specific equipment and methods to ensure your pets can remain at home while still being protected.

Do I need to change batteries in a wired system?

No, wired systems have rechargeable batteries with a lifespan of about five years, which our engineers check during annual service.

What happens in a power cut?

The system will have rechargeable batteries to operate for at least 12 hours, and if the power is not restored, an additional battery will trigger an alarm.

What if neighbors ignore my alarm?

You can add equipment to notify contacts or a central monitoring station when the alarm activates.

Do you service alarms that you haven't installed?

Yes, we service systems not originally installed by us and offer annual service plans based on individual needs.

CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television, involving cameras linked to a monitoring or recording device.

What is Digital CCTV?

Digital CCTV utilizes a hard drive within a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) as the storage medium for images.

How will I know what system I need?

Our trained surveyors will design the system based on your specific needs and environmental considerations.

A DVR, or Digital Video Recorder, is the device that records video, replacing older tape systems.

Can I view images remotely?

Yes, most modern DVRs offer remote viewing capabilities through a broadband connection.

What is Remote Monitoring?

Remote monitoring connects your site to our Video Control room for surveillance and speaker warnings.

How long will my system record for?

Recording duration depends on hard drive size; a 1TB drive can typically store about one month of footage from four cameras.

What happens when the hard drive is full?

The DVR will overwrite old footage once the storage is full, ensuring continuous recording.

Do the cameras light up at night?

Yes, if equipped with infrared, the cameras will illuminate with infrared lights that are invisible to the human eye.

What’s the difference between CIF and D1 Recording?

D1 provides higher resolution but requires more storage space. Most DVRs record in CIF for optimal performance.
