Frequently asked questions
help_outline Do I need a landline phone for my security system?
No. Cellular or IP communication are both options for transmission of alarm signals to the central station.
help_outline If I change my phone service provider, will the security system still work?
Most phone service providers will work with the security system. Check with your new telephone provider to see if their service will be compatible with security systems. Always test the alarm system before the telephone technician leaves to confirm successful communication to the central station.
help_outline How do I test my security system?
Call our central station at 1-800-438-4171 and have them put your account on "test". You will need your verbal password in order to put the account on "test". After they have put the account on test, arm the system and trip the alarm. Let the siren sound for 30 seconds before disarming the system. Call our central station back to see if they have received an alarm signal. If they have not received a signal, call our service department at 919-389-9426 to schedule a service call.
help_outline My keypad is beeping fast and displaying a “trouble” or “check” condition. What do I do?
First, check to see if you have power. If you have power, check to see if the outlet that the alarm power supply transformer is plugged into has power. If you have power your system should display "AC" on the keypad. If your system displays "BAT", then the battery at the control panel needs to be replaced. If your system displays "CHECK" and a zone number, this probably corresponds to a wireless device needing the battery replaced. If your system displays "bF", this indicates that the cellular or IP communicator is losing signal. If you have any questions, call our service department at 919-389-9426.
help_outline How do I change my security system call list?
Call our central station at 1-800-438-4171 and have your verbal password. They can update your contact list.
help_outline I am moving. What do I need to do?
If you are moving and staying in North Carolina, call our service department at 919-389-9426 to have them schedule an install date for your new home and transfer service. Please give us a 30 day notice.
help_outline I would like to update my security system. How would I do that?
Call our service department at 919-389-9426.
